Committee's representative and animal welfare scientist
Committed to responsible preclinical research, we uphold ethical practices, scientific rigor, and care for animal welfare. AAALAC accredited for over 10 years, we guarantee the highest standards in animal research. As signatories of the Gircor Transparency Charter, we ensure clear, accessible communication to foster explicitness and advance scientific excellence.
We apply the 3R principles (Reduction, Refinement, Replacement) to use only the strictly necessary number of animals under the best feasible conditions, ensuring high quality predictive data. AAALAC accreditation confirms our commitment to the highest standards of ethical compliance. Systematic post-study reports allow us to monitor and optimize the number of animals used per study. Our goal is to use only the strictly necessary number of mice. Continuous training is essential for maintaining good practices. To avoid purchasing mice solely for training, we reuse mice from internal studies in agreement with the veterinary team.
Our Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) made up of higly qualified technicians, scientists, veterinarians and specialists in animal welfare, ensures optimal living and procedural conditions for mice, exceeding regulatory standard. Our multi-institutional committee, CELEAG (Local Ethics Committee for Animal Experimentation), reviews our projects before approval by the Ministry of Research, according to legislation and CNREEA (National Committee for Ethical Reflection on Animal Experimentation) recommendations.
As Gircor's members and Transparency Charter signatories, we actively promote openness and public understanding of animal research through animal facility visits, media communications, and events. We maintain a transparent, collaborative approach with partners to build trust and uphold shared ethical values.
